Brilliant but Cancelled

Yes, I totally stole the old tag line from Bravo, but it's so true.

This past weekend in an attempt to procrastinate I began watching Jericho starring one Skeet Ulrich. I had seen a couple of a episodes months before, but never while it was actually on air. And man on man how I wish it was still on TV. Thanks to Boxee, I was able to watch all of season 1 and thanks to Netflix all of season 2.

This show about a post-apocalyptic America centered on a small Kansas town is just good television. Well written and acted, it was a place where our worst thoughts about ourselves, our neighbors and our government was played out for us on screen. With a character resembling Dick Cheney to boot.

I think that it would be interesting to see where this series would have gone. The possibilities are immense. And it is ashamed that it was cancelled considering that there are a new slate of shows coming this fall and winter that will deal with similar themes. Not to mention that film version of The Road is finally coming out this fall.
