John Hughes is Dead

The Summer of Death continues. Seriously, the summer of 2009 will be remembered as the summer of celebrity death.

Legendary '80s director John Hughes died suddenly of a heart attack here in New York City last night, he was 59. Hughes is responsible for bringing us Molly Ringwald in Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, which are both movies I can't turn away from when I come across them on cable. And just a couple of days ago I watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Hughes gave other filmmakers the template for teen movies that many are still mining today. And for that we need to celebrate his life.
