Kings of Leon
Just saw the video for "Use Somebody" for the hundredth time and was reminded of a conversation I had this summer. Is it possible for a band to get too big?
There are those people who discover a band early and rejoice on their knowledge of said band and how cool they are. And yet when that band makes it, really makes it in a KOL kind of way that same fan complains that the band has changed and thus unworthy of their admiration. Really?
Why do people do this? I admit I may have been guilty of this in the past, but I realized it was stupid. These bands have worked hard, they want and need the recognition. So get over yourself, you didn't discover this band, unless you're an A&R person (in which case you want them to get big) be happy for this band you love.
Unless of course they do an embarrassing reality show, then you have full recourse to ridicule them.
