Lemonade

Just finished watching the documentary "Lemonade" on Hulu and was touched by the message. This short doc is about people that were laid-off from agencies and how that forced them or give them the opportunity to re-think what to do with their lives. A few months back I posted the trailer and I was happy to learn that the finished product is streaming on Hulu. It's a must see for anyone who's been laid-off or anyone who is in a rut (like me). This film left me with an important message, which was not to be afraid of dreaming and living the life that you want.

This documentary is hopeful and inspiring, yes, the title Lemonade is a cliche but so what, it's an adage that works. And what it reminded me of is that I do believe in more than just having a "job" for the paycheck. It renewed my sense in the fact that I know that my path does not lay in the conventional route. And also, gave me a kick in the ass, as one woman in the film said, she didn't want to be the person out there looking for a job but the one doing something interesting. And that's me.

I have ideas and I've been afraid to execute them, why I don't know. Probably because I'm afraid of failure, but at this point I don't have more to lose. And no I'm not going to stop looking for gainful employment in the short-term, I am also not going to let that be in end-all be all for me either. I didn't make any New Year's resolutions, but I did make a promise to myself to have goals and follow through with them. I've already started on one, training for a half-marathon and that's actually been going better than expected.
