Real Talk

Black People of NYC it's time for some real talk. We've got a problem and I fear that it's getting worse. What is this dire situation of which I speak? Eating on public transportation. Yes, that's right I'm calling you out. At first I tried to ignore it. I mean on the bus coming across the bridge from the Bronx into Harlem, there was the woman with the shopping bag full of McDonald's. She ate a cheeseburger. The smell of McDonald's in the confined space of a bus is enough to make me retch. So, okay she ate the burger, but then it gets worse, whilst complaining about how full she felt and not wondering if she could eat the chicken sandwich she purchased, she proceeded to pull it out of the bag and bite into it. Did I mention this was all within a less than 10 minute ride?

Okay, this talk may not have been necessary if I hadn't witnessed the following things:
1- Woman on train with a box of Popeye's chicken

2- Man on train eating fried fish!! Not only was he eating fried fish on the train, he managed to nod off between a few stops, wake-up and then eat some more

3 -Man on train with a brown paper bag of fried chicken, in a white plastic bag. Eating a chicken leg on a moving train is out of bounds. And worse still is getting down on some chicken skin a few stops later. I have a picture of this, it's not pretty

I get it. People in New York are busy and sometimes you have to fit in a meal where you can. I understand. But people there are somethings that you just shouldn't eat on the bus or the train. And yes, I am singling out black folk at the moment. Why? Well, as my sister says "We have got to do better".
