Live Your Life
I'm sitting in the back of a town car on my way to New Jersey to drop off a package and then turn around and come right back. So I thought I'd take this time to write a blog post (yay smartphone!).
Over the weekend I spent almost 3 hours via Skype talking to my main homegirl in Barcelona and our conversation had touched on a topic that's been prevalent in many conversations I've had over this last year. What the heck am I doing with my life or this is what I want to do and this is how I'm gonna do it.
Sure it's a well trodden theme, one that I can back to over and over. But the difference I'm hearing lately is about the planning. We're moving out of the brainstorming, dreaming phase and into the let's get it done phase.
It may just be our age and we realize that time goes by so quickly. An aside: I came to this harsh reality this past weekend when I visited two bars I used to frequent in Williamsburg. One was having a Goth night, and the other was just an odd assortment of people. Goth night, really? Needless to say that night was not like old times, old times being 5 years ago.
But back to the topic at hand, planning for the life you want is does not always mean taking the conventional path but it could be. For me, it means finding a balance between work and play, or more to the point, generating a revenue stream that doesn't tie me to a desk all day.
This is something I began thinking about when I decided to move to Barcelona and it's been nagging at me ever since. Now the only thing holding me back is procrastination, which is really about fear. So I'm aiming to be fearless this Fall and get on with it already.
Just wanted to give you something to think about on a Monday.
