Speed Dating (Part 1 - The Prep)

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about speed dating is that scene from "40 Year Old Virgin" when Steve Carrell's character is tricked into lunch time speeding and it is just awful. But this is not a film it is real life so if it is going to be awful, it won't be funny.

Rest assured I am going into this with optimism. Nothing but funny happy thoughts. But how to succeed at speed dating? One you prep/primp.

Nails - did
Hair - did
eyebrows - check
removal of visible body hair - check

The biggest obstacle as always, what to wear? I had a mental image of what I'd wear. A red dress. But like anyone who's watched a celeb stylist pulling clothes, you always pull more than you need (thanks Rachel Zoe and House of Glam). I pulled several "looks" and in true reality tv fashion, I did not go with the first pick, but the ringer, the one I didn't think about. Then it all comes down to accessories, cue the over the top necklace and chunky cocktail ring. I'm trying to create a moment. Oh and don't forget that I will be transitioning from work to play, on an unseasonably warm, raining October day.

Also, in my armory are Colgate wisps, big girl makeup, and bobby pins, in case I want to whip my tresses into an up do (you know elongate the neck), deodorant and roll-in perfume. I came prepared.

All will be for naught of course if I have nothing to say to my would be suitors. Stay tuned ....
