Missing Cougar Town

I am not afraid to admit that I am huge fan of ABC's "Cougar Town". It is a delightful show about a nutty group of friends hanging in a cul-de-sac and drinking copious amounts of wine. With
"Modern Family" as the lead-in, it is a perfect hour of Wednesday night comedy. Over the last few weeks I have been missing the cul-de-sac crew and have suffered through some painful episodes of "Mr. Sunshine". This new Matthew Perry comedy, if it can be called that, is just not good. Simple as that. And it's really a shame. I like Perry, I was one of the viewers of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip". It is sad that this show is so horrible, considering the cast, besides Perry, there is Allison Janney and Andrea Anders who I love on "Better of Ted" (still bitter about that cancellation).

What is even more confounding about the placement on "Sunshine" is that ABC has continued to run new episodes of the show while there have been no new episodes of any of it's other Wednesday night comedies. Without Modern Family as a lead-in what is going to entice me or anyone to watch Sunshine? This is what I was thinking last night when I saw the previews for next week's line-up that will include yet another new comedy "Happy Endings", with Family as the lead-in. There is even a new episode of "Better with You" next week. While I'll have to hold-off on judgment of this new offering, I still just want to be able to sit back with a class of wine and watch "Cougar Town". ABC has a history of ruining good things, the aforementioned Better off Ted. If they wanted Perry's show to succeed they could at least give it new episodes to follow, unless they have already decided to cancel the show and are just burning off what's already been filmed. In which case proceed and we will forget this debacle, and turn our attention to Jules and the crew. In the meantime we can all play "Penny Can" here
