Mixtape Mondays - New Jack Swing
On Friday night I ventured out to The Bell House's monthly "Party Like It's 1999" dance party and it struck me that the 90's were a decade that saw night only the rise of grunge with the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam, the proliferation of rap with Dr. Dre, Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G., and closed out the decade with The Backstreet Boys, 'NSync and Britney. And there was so much other music in between as well, it was a truly diverse decade of music, and one of those forms was "New Jack Swing" ushered in by Teddy Riley and Jimmie Jam and Terry Lewis. That's the focus of this week's mix. In addition to my mix you can check Complex magazine "25 Best New Jack Swing Songs" here
